Susan has been providing individual psychotherapy to adults in London, Ontario since 1999
Susan holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree (1997) from King’s University College in London, Ontario and a Master of Social Work degree (1999) from the University of Toronto. Since that time, she has continued her training in the area of Trauma Informed Intervention, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Intervention, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Prior to entering into private practice full time in 2009, Susan worked in the community with the Ministry of the Attorney General in the court system with Victims of Crime; with London Health Sciences Centre Emergency Care Program, Adolescent Mental Health Program and the London Regional Cancer Centre and with Daya Counselling Centre.
After many years of exposure to colleagues who work with traumatized individuals and who experience trauma through their work, Susan developed a special interest in designing curriculum for professionals. This exposure to traumatic content in our work is often referred to as Occupational Stress Injury. A large body of her work includes treatment with individuals who engage in working with those experiencing trauma such as first responders, social workers, therapists, case workers, child welfare workers, probation and parole officers, court personnel, jurors, disaster response personnel, medical and allied health care professionals.
As Part time Faculty with the School of Social Work at King’s University College at the University of Western Ontario for 12 years, Susan’s area of interest in teaching focused on Crisis and Acute Traumatic Stress Intervention and Traumatic Grief.
Susan is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
